Florida, New Hampshire (states named as distribution area)

In the United States, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) publishes recalls of consumer products, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) publishes recalls of vehicles, parts, tyres and child seats, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) publishes food recalls. This map gathers, one by one, the recalls these three agencies published over the last 90 days (from 26 July 2026) and organises date, scope, remedy and source. Official data names the states of sale only for FDA food recalls whose distribution list can be read; all others are grouped as "nationwide" in the ring outside the map.

This map lets you check which recalls were announced, when, by which agency and with what scope, with sources.

What this map shows

Circles group FDA food recalls whose notice names states of distribution, placed at a representative point of each state (size shows the count). The dashed "nationwide" ring holds every CPSC (consumer product) and NHTSA (vehicle) recall and food recalls with no readable state list, because the official data names no state of sale; they have no point. A food recall naming several states appears in each of them.

The date means different things by agency: CPSC uses the announcement date, NHTSA the day it received the manufacturer's report, and FDA the day the recall appeared in its Enforcement Report. Severity (1 to 3): CPSC is 3 if a death is reported or 1 million or more units are covered, 2 if injuries are reported or 100,000 or more units; NHTSA is 3 with a do-not-drive or park-outside advisory or 500,000 or more vehicles, 2 for 50,000 or more; FDA follows its class (Class I = 3, II = 2, III = 1). Otherwise 1.

Some things the numbers do not show. The number of recalls is not a comparison of how dangerous products are or how safe a country is, and the map cannot tell how many items were actually returned or whether any harm was caused. Meat, poultry and egg product recalls handled by USDA FSIS, medicines and medical devices are not included in this version. Check the source announcement to see whether your product is covered.

Questions and answers

Does a high number of recalls mean a country's or company's products are unsafe?

No. A recall is a measure such as a refund, repair or replacement for a product that may have a problem. Counts depend on each agency's reporting and publication rules, how much is sold and how closely products are checked, so they cannot be used to compare safety between countries or companies.

How can I tell whether the product I own is covered?

Open the source link on each record (the official announcement) and check the product name, model, production period and the contact and remedy details. This map does not decide whether your product is covered.

Why are so many records "nationwide"?

The official CPSC and NHTSA data contain no state of sale. The map does not guess a state, so these are grouped as nationwide.
