Safety Gate (formerly RAPEX) is the system through which authorities of EU and EEA countries, and Northern Ireland, share measures such as recalls, withdrawals and sales bans on non-food products that endanger consumers; the European Commission publishes it as a weekly report every Friday. Food, medicines and medical devices are outside its scope. This map gathers, one by one, the notifications in the weekly reports of the last 30 days (from 24 September 2026) and shows them by notifying country. A point is the representative point of the country that notified the alert, not the whole area where the product was sold.
This map lets you check which country's authority notified measures on which dangerous products, when, with sources.
What this map shows
Each circle counts alerts by the country that notified them (size shows the count, colour the most common category). The same product may be notified by several countries; each is a separate record. Select a circle to see that country's notifications, newest first.
The date is the publication date of the weekly report (every Friday), not the day the measure was taken. Severity (1 to 3): 3 if the EU alert level is "serious risk" and the hazard can have grave outcomes such as fire, shock, suffocation, burns or ingestion; 2 for other "serious risk" alerts; 1 for "other risk levels". Photos are not shown (their rights are separate).
Some things the numbers do not show. The number of notifications depends on each country's monitoring and notification practice, and is not a comparison of how dangerous products are or how safe a country is. The notifying country is not necessarily where the product was sold, and the number of items actually returned is not known. Check the Safety Gate notice to see whether your product is covered.
Questions and answers
Does a high number of recalls mean a country's or company's products are unsafe?
No. A recall is a measure such as a refund, repair or replacement for a product that may have a problem. Counts depend on each agency's reporting and publication rules, how much is sold and how closely products are checked, so they cannot be used to compare safety between countries or companies.
How can I tell whether the product I own is covered?
Open the source link on each record (the official announcement) and check the product name, model, production period and the contact and remedy details. This map does not decide whether your product is covered.
Is the point where the product was sold?
No. It is the representative point of the country that notified the alert. The product may also have been sold in other countries.
