In Japan, the Consumer Affairs Agency's Recall Information Site gathers and publishes recalls, refunds and free repairs carried out by businesses. This map gathers, one by one, the notices posted there over the last 90 days (from 26 July 2026) and organises posting date, reason, measure, sales area and source. A point is placed only where the notice title names a prefecture or similar sales area in brackets; the rest are grouped as "nationwide" in the ring. A company's location is not used.
This map lets you check which product recalls were posted, when and with which measure, with sources.
Circles group records whose title names a prefecture (or a main city) in brackets, at a representative point of that prefecture (size shows the count; a record naming several prefectures appears in each, and seven or more are treated as nationwide). The dashed "nationwide" ring holds records with no sales area stated, nationwide or wide-area records; it has no point. Open each record from the list.
The date is the day the notice was posted on the recall site (posting date); the date the business began its response is given separately in each record. Categories follow the site's own classes (food, vehicles, appliances and household goods, health and hygiene products and so on). Severity (1 to 3): 3 if the headline or reason names fire, ignition, suffocation, death, serious harm or a food-poisoning bacterium; 2 for allergens, foreign matter, injury, burns, shock, exceeded standards, bacteria or brake faults; 1 for everything else such as wrong date or ingredient labels. The site gives no unit counts, so counts are not used.
Some things the numbers do not show. Counts are not a comparison of how dangerous products are or how safe a business or country is, and the map cannot tell how many items were actually returned or whether any harm was caused. Medicines and medical devices are not included, and the product accident information of METI and NITE is not included in this version. Check the source page to see whether your product is covered.
No. A recall is a measure such as a refund, repair or replacement for a product that may have a problem. Counts depend on each agency's reporting and publication rules, how much is sold and how closely products are checked, so they cannot be used to compare safety between countries or companies.
Open the source link on each record (the official announcement) and check the product name, model, production period and the contact and remedy details. This map does not decide whether your product is covered.
Company, brand and product names are given as in the notice. The explanatory text on the English page is in English.
